Happy new year!
It was so hard saying goodbye to some of our district in Provo. Out of the 13 pessoas em Provo, 8 of us got our visas. It´s crazy how attached you can get to people in just 2 weeks. That was definitely one of the hardest things about saying goodbye to Provo. Also saying goodbye to our incredible teachers who we love so much!! Irmão Machado, Irmã Beck, Irmão Mason - they were all so patient with us, and I am forever grateful. The other thing was THE MOUNTAINS. Appreciate them when you see them people. Give em a wave for me if you feel so inclined.
We´ve arrived in BRAZIL! It feels unreal to be here - every time we pass a window, I´m surprised because I´m still expecting snow! Hahaha. Going from a white Christmas and snow to muggy heat and sweating a lot? Um. 3/10, would probably not recommend.

The first day or so here was brutal. Our whole district was dying because they didn´t give us a day to catch up on sleep or anything, so we were just doing our best to stay awake, look alive, and act like we understood any Portuguese at all. Transitioning here has been tough. Showering with bugs isn´t exactly ideal, and being welcomed outside with a wave of blazing heat? not my fav. And yet I can say that I´ve never been happier!
The Brazilians are incredible and I love them already! They are so friendly and hug you every time they see you! They go, "Seester Heel! Voce falar Portuguese!?" and after I say no, I don´t speak very well, they go, "Okay. Eu ensinar você Portuguese, e you teach me Ingles, okay!?" hahaha so funny (: It rains here a lot, and absolutely pours at least once per day.
We just got back from the sao paulo temple this morning, and it was an incredible experience. If you haven´t been lately, please go! Heavenly Father would love to catch up with you (:
I´m out of time to email, so hopefully I can add more next week, but I love you all! Thank you thank you thank you for the prayers and support! WE CAN FEEL THEM! And I know that that´s what is carrying me through learning Portuguese right now.
