Why hello PARNAÍBA!

Yes, I returned to PARNAÍBA this week <3 We are the sister training leaders of the sisters in Parnaíba, so we had splits with them this week. So so strange to go back, seriously. As we were in the bus, I was telling a bunch of crazy stories to Sister Alves, just remembering all the things that happened with Sister Lucas and Sister Beraldo - all about exactly 1 year ago. Crazy all that can happen in just 1 year!

This week was a bit rough. Our two baptisms for this week - Lucas and Bruna - fell through, and both for almost the same reason. Lucas's family didn't want him to be baptized, and persuaded him not to/to stop going to church. Bruna feels that she is not ready, and has a lot of pressure from her mom not to be baptized as well.
It's really hard to see when this happens - especially when you are working with youth. Lucas is 14 and Bruna is 15 - and really, they both need the gospel so badly. I am hoping and praying that we can continue to help them, and that the hearts of their families will soften to feel the spirit and allow them to make this important step.

Miracle of the week: We were literally blessed with help from angels this week.
Our area here in Teresina is a tad dangerous, especially at night. And Friday night we were working in the center of the city, trying to contact a girl we met the other day. And Heavenly Father sent angels to help us - first was a taxi driver, who offered to take us to the address for free (so rare and nearly impossible here) "because he has a daughter, and wouldn't want her to be in this situation alone". And then as we were waiting to meet this girl (who never showed up), a man named John gave us directions and waited with us to make sure we were safe.

Feeling so grateful for good people in this world, and the protection that we receive as missionaries.

Hope everyone has a great week! Will send lots of pictures next week when I have more time!

WOW! What a week!

This week was good... I am feeling very anxious as we speak. Not really sure why. We have so. many. things. to stress about here, including helping sisters travel to and from the staff, doing splits with the sisters in our zone, and I am just a tad overwhelmed.

Saddest thing of the week: All of my photos on this new memory card deleted. How? I have no idea. Hopefully I can restore them, but if not I will just have a good cry and carry on with my life.
Sigh.

FUN FACT of the day: We are the Sister Training Leaders (Líder Sister Treinadora, or otherwise, LTS) of Parnaíba and we will do splits with them TOMORROW! So I am returning to my first area in the mission!!! So CRAZY!! Excited because this sure isn't something that happens every day.

This past week I have been getting a tad overwhelmed with the fact that I have to go home in like 3 months.... AAH.
But it's been good that my studies have been a lot deeper lately. I am studying a talk called The Fourth Missionary by Lawrence E. Corbridge, which is so good. Really, incredible incredible. If you have a spare second (which I am sure you don't hahahah) give it a read. It applies to me as a missionary, but also life in general. Changed my perspective on life (:

have a wonderful week! Hopefully I can restore my fotos and send a couple next week. My fingers are crossed for this :)

"Vida não deixa que nós pensamos coisas serias."

This is the phrase of the week ^^ which translates to the idea that "life doesn't let us think serious things."
Which is so true as a missionary HAHAHA
Sister Alves and I just pass our days laughing and living it up, because life is so funny as a missionary. The contacts that we do here in Teresina just crack me up, or one of the lessons that we had the other day:
We were teaching a lesson for a recent-convert, Karine, and were seated outside of her house. The chairs were placed in the dirt, and mid-way through the lesson, Sister Alves' chair began... to... sink. Right as she was sharing her testimony about the importance of family history XD hahahaha.

Also, I have to share the new theme of mutual this year, which is Peace in Christ. All of the sisters here are in love with this theme, including me of course, so please watch and enjoy this video. (Oh yeah, AND THIS VIDEO WAS FILMED IN OUR MISSION!!! (: The sand dune place is around 3 hours from São Luís!)
I get chills every. single. time. that I hear this music. And if you have a minute, watch in português, because hey. BRASIL.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! Don't forget to say your prayers and really pour out your heart to Heavenly Father. He is so mindful of you and what you do and feel every single day. I was studying a bit about God's nature this week, and just sit in awe over the fact that he is so powerful and perfect - yet he loves us. Us, being imperfect, stubborn, forgetful, and difficult at times. Yet we are his children, and he loves us so much. Don't forget that!

boa semana!

I love Teresina, seasoned pineapple, and RAIN

First week in Teresina was great! I am loving the area, and my new companion, Sister Alves. We were at the mtc together, and arrived here in Teresina, so I already love her (:
Teresina is good! To say that Teresina is hot is an understatement... hahaha but it's been pretty rainy this past week, so luckily it hasn't been too hot lately #tendermercies I am already seeing new tan lines after 5 days here. Our area has a much more "big city" vibe, which means that every one is a lot more rushed. We already have some funny stories trying to do contacts.
Like excuses that they were from South Korea and didn't understand what we were saying. hahaha life goes on.

Miracle of the week: We were knocking on doors in our area, and we met two girls named Karol and Maria. Karol's story is complicated, but long story short exactly 1 year and 1 month ago, she tried to commit suicide. We testified to her of the plan of salvation and focused on the atonement, and she just cried. So spiritual. As we were leaving, Sister Alves and I just talked about the fact that there are no coincidences, that we have exactly 1 year and 1 month in the mission... The Lord is so aware of his children it's amazing.

But life is good! A lot more rushed now. We are the sister training leaders of the staff here in teresina, so we are more or less responsible for all the sisters in the mission when they arrive here for whatever reason. Lots of responsiblity. And cleaning hahaha. But it's good! Grateful for a good companion, and the spirit who help me so so much.

boa semana!
